Worship

This is made up of five distinct groups:  The Praise Choir, The Worship Team Singers, The Worship Team Band, The Drama Team and The Technical Team. These five teams are made up of individuals who embrace a calling by God to use their gifts and talents to lead others in Worship.

Praise Choir: The Praise Choir is made up of individuals who are high school age and older. The requirement for participating in this group is a desire to glorify God in worship and song, and a commitment to serve and rehearse on a weekly basis. This adult choir participates on occasion in Sunday morning services and brings energy and enthusiasm to corporate worship at SHC. They also provide special music for seasonal occasions such as Christmas, Easter, July 4th and others.

Worship Team Singers are individuals chosen from the choir who are placed on independent mics and bring a distinct quality to the overall sound of worship. Members of this team must audition and are placed on a monthly rotation. They remain members of the choir and rehearse accordingly.

Worship Team Band: This band is made up of musicians, high school age and older, who maintain a desire to use their musical giftedness for God’s glory. We are blessed at South Hills to have numerous people who wish to serve in this capacity and thus participants are scheduled on a rotation basis so as to utilize as many skilled musicians as God brings us. Members of this team must audition.

Techncial Team: This team is made up of individuals who enjoy the behind-the- scenes aspect of worship. Team members work in the areas of sound, lighting, video, graphics and design. The main goal of these members is to work together to create services in which the worshiper’s attention is drawn towards and focused on God and not to the technical aspects of the production. We have several members on this team who serve on a monthly rotation.

Style of Worship: The style of Worship at South Hills Church is referred to as a “blended style.” It is our goal to please God in our worship with music that relates to all generations and backgrounds. From the Hymnal to Contemporary Christian music, the spiritual relevance and the lyrical content is of utmost importance to the planning of worship services.
