Short Term Mission Trips
The theme “Across All Boundaries,” is taken from the core value of “GO-God’s compassion though us changes the world.”
Belize led by Pastor Jim Landymore
A team of 22 young people and adults will be returning to Trial Farm, Belize in Central America to partner with a local church in helping reach their community for Jesus Christ. They will participate in sharing Jesus through Sunday worship times, youth mid-week events, and VBS. Through our efforts last year the local church saw nearly double the youth attend church each week. They also completed construction on a small multi-purpose building that is being used to teach children computer and young ladies to sew. The team will also be called upon to help with other church construction projects, cleaning work, landscaping maintenance, or other mercy-type work to demonstrate the love of Jesus. There will also be opportunity to be part of music, drama, sports and puppet ministries.
Our goal is that each person who serves would grow in their awareness of the needs and brokenness of those around them and how they can make a difference in those lives, and that each team member would trust Jesus in a new and deeper way.
The date for this trip is June 29 – July 8 with a cost of about $1800 each.
Kenya – Rehema Ministries led by Cindy & Tyrone Riggle
Founded in 2007, Rehema Ministries, In Step Foundation (www.rehemainstep.com) own and operate In Step Children’s Home in Sibanga, Kenya. Jeff and Carla Picicci, who are the directors and founders of In Step, are native Tri-Citians. They are debt-free and have clear title deed to 20 acres. They have a 5,600 sq. ft. building with a 110 ft. veranda, medical center, school and boy’s dorm. They currently have 120 children and are growing at an average of two children per month. God has given them a vision of 400 children coming to live in a loving, Christ-centered home. Rehema Ministries, In Step Foundation drilled a borehole that provides pure drinking water to the children’s home and to the surrounding community. Their promise to God is that they will never turn away a child that He sends. They are His children and He will provide. They are accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
One of the main things the team, of about 14, will be doing is loving on the children!!
They may have a project to do but they won’t know for sure what that is until closer to the time they leave. In talking with Jeff and Carla they will see what is needed at that time. It is a beautiful blessing to go and get to know these children, but we will also be available to help in any way we can, accepting any opportunity God provides to be out in the community.
The date for this trip is October 21 – November 7 with costs being above $3000 each.
To support these mission efforts, donations may be made to the “Short -Term Mission Trips” online; at the Kiosk in the church lobby or by using a giving envelope and pacing it in the offering bag through July 1, 2013.
All financial donations will be shared among the two trips.
